The Windsor region lacked OPEN CFC-rated tournaments for players of all levels. Most events were CYCC qualifiers, limiting participation, as adults couldn't compete and many stronger players stopped playing after qualifying. We introduced this tournament as a game changer, creating an inclusive, competitive event—and it was a resounding success.
Chess can be a powerful force for social good, especially as a fundraiser for youth-focused initiatives. Through our tournament, we raised over $600 to the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, supporting the development of young leaders in our local community.
